A helpful reminder ... of things to concentrate on when about to take your practical driving test

LANE DISCIPLINE – WRONG LANE

When driving along and the road separates into different lanes, you may accidentally find yourself in the wrong lane for the direction you need to go to.

It is no one else’s fault but yours. DON’T make other pay the forfeit for your mistake by putting them in danger of having an accident with you or others nearby or even inconveniencing them.

You should continue wherever your present lane is taking you and then find an alternative route back to your ultimate destination.

In the event of being involved in an accident because you didn’t follow where your ‘wrong’ lane was taking you but became involved in an accident with another road user, you will be deemed to be at fault and your insurance company will have to accept liability for your mistake. In turn you will lose your No Claims Bonus, and not only do you risk your insurance premium going up at the next renewal, but it may take several years of good driving and no further claims to get your premiums back to where they are now.

Compare risking an accident and higher premiums to going a couple of minutes out of your way…no brainer really isn’t it?
