INDEPENDENT DRIVING

Don’t worry if you go the wrong way on your Independent Driving section of your practical driving test.

As an example I had a pupil who had passed her driving test after missing the signs. The examiner came up to me after the test with a smile on his face. He said ‘we didn’t even do the Independent Driving’. I asked him what he meant. He said ‘I asked your pupil to follow the road signs to Winchester. She drove straight past the sign. I said don’t worry, I would like you to now follow the road signs to Andover instead. She drove past this road sign too. I said ok, don’t worry that’s the end of the Independent Driving section. I’ll now give you directions as normal’.
