A helpful reminder ... of things to concentrate on when about to take your practical driving test

ROUNDABOUTS – POSITIONING ON THE ROUNDABOUT

When going straight ahead at a roundabout, be aware of your positioning on the roundabout itself. Remember that the roundabout is circular, so the lanes are ‘curved’. So as you onto the roundabout be very aware that you need to keep over to the left to keep the lane on your right free for the traffic turning to the right on the roundabout.

When you are driving straight ahead at the roundabout you will not be signalling until your vehicle reaches the exit before the one you intend to leave at, where you will now signal to the left.

An easy way to ensure that you get both your road positioning and signal correct is to ‘Drive over to the island on the left to signal left’.
