ROAD POSITIONING
When driving along a long straight road, don’t relax too much or get complacent.
Keep watching ahead for potential hazards. But also there are there things you need to keep an eye on:
MIRRORS
SPEED
ROAD POSITION
Keep constantly monitoring these three elements. This way if your speed drops, or rises too much you can make the adjustment. If you start to wander towards the kerb or towards the centre of the road, then it will only be for a moment. The same with the use of the mirrors, there may appear to be nothing behind you, but then someone may emerge from a side road or driveway behind so that the next time you look you see that you have a following vehicle.
So constantly rotate your observations between these three checks until you reach the next road junction, roundabout or potential hazard.
