JUNCTIONS – EMERGING

When emerging from a ‘blind’ junction, you will obviously need to creep very slowly forward using very strict ‘clutch control’.

As you creep forward, keep the car moving forward up to the point where you can see that the road is clear to safely emerge into the major road, and that you do not see any approaching potential or actual hazards.

So many learner drivers will emerge a bit, stop, emerge a bit more, stop, emerge a bit more etc.

When questioned why they didn’t just keep the car continually creeping forward, their answer is almost always “But I can’t see”. My reply is “I will finish your sentence: I can’t see…anything coming!”
