A helpful reminder ... of things to concentrate on when about to take your practical driving test

DRIVING TEST – THE BIG DAY

When the big day approaches it is very easy to feel anxious and nervous. But really you should be fully concentrated on driving, just as you need to be after you have passed when you are out there driving on your own with no-one there to point things out to you.

It can be boiled down to Nervousness versus Concentration.

It’s a bit like sneezing. You can sneeze or you can keep your eyes open. You can’t do both at the same time.

Whilst you are feeling nervous you are no longer concentrating, and while you are concentrating you will not be feeling nervous as you will be ‘too busy’!

Focus on what you’re doing now. Be like a dog and ‘live in the present’! Don’t worry and fret about what happened 5 minutes ago, or what is going to happen in 5 minutes time. You need to be focused on what is happening right NOW!

Can you imagine someone bumping into your car for no apparent reason and when you ask them why they bumped you they tell you it was because they stalled their engine at the last road junction a couple of miles before! What has that got to do with them bumping into you now?
