A helpful reminder ... of things to concentrate on when about to take your practical driving test

DRIVING TEST – HOW SHOULD I DRIVE ON MY TEST?

Drive just as your driving instructor has taught you. Don’t change anything.

Don’t drive like a ‘Learner’ driver’.

If you drive like a Learner driver, you will stay a Learner driver. The examiner wants to see if you are now ready to join the ranks of qualified drivers.

Drive with confidence of an experienced driver, except that you are…. going to keep to speed limits, use your indicators, select the correct lane on approach to roundabouts and junctions, be patient and considerate to other road-users, drive safely and competently.

When you pass your driving test is doesn’t mean that you are the best driver ever. Nor similarly, does it mean that should you fail your driving test that you are the most diabolical driver ever either.

When you pass your driving test it means that you are now ready to go out and ‘practice’ on your own instead of with someone supervising you.

If you fail your driving test it means that you still need more supervision and that there are one or more areas of your driving which require more attention and practice.

The driving test examiner is looking for four main things:

You are SAFE to Yourself

You are SAFE to other road-users

You have your vehicle under your CONTROL

You are driving legally
