BAY PARKING
Bay parking is useful not just for your driving test, but also for when you’re driving independently and need to park at the shops, or anywhere else you may be.
When asked to carry out the Bay Parking manoeuvre, consider adjusting your door mirrors downwards a little so that you see the white lines of the parking bays.
Remember that if you don’t end up between the lines, that you can drive the car forward. If you do this, make sure that you drive all four wheels completely out of the parking bay. This will give the best opportunity to make the adjustment that you need.
When about to reverse back into the parking bay, look into both side mirrors. You will probably notice a wider gap on one side of the car than the other. Turn TOWARDS the wider gap, whilst watching BOTH side mirrors. When the gap looks EVEN in both side mirrors then make sure that you straighten the steering wheel.
Keep looking out for passing traffic and STOP if anyone is about to go past you.
Remember to also look out of the BACK window, NOT just through the rear view centre mirror.
After you have completed the manoeuvre remember to readjust the side mirrors again so that you can see clearly for normal driving.
